Simplify Your Life
Does something need to change in your life? In the coming posts, I will offer ways to initiate desired change or cope with unwanted life changes.
As a therapist, I have talked to 1000 individuals who wanted change in their lives. The most common issues that brought people to therapy were relationships or emotional reactions to life’s stressors. What overwhelms you and keeps you from moving forward toward your goals?
Early in my 20s, I became excited with all the opportunities life offered. I took cake-decorating classes, I was cutting coupons, buying recipe books, cross-stitching, jogging, working full-time, and still feeling like a failure at all my efforts to create a consistent routine that kept up with all my ambitions.
In a moment of frustrated defeat, I heard a voice in my head that I believed was God. His words were simple, precise, and full of healing power that redirected my attention to true priorities. I heard these words:
Simplify your life
Clear away the clutter
Set your goals
Remove your obstacles.
I encourage you to think about those objectives: Examine the busyness of your current routine. Is your schedule too full for the activities that you would rather do?
Step One: What are ways you can simplify your life?
